A bunch of stuff about me:
1. I am 28 years old as I write this.
2. I am five foot five inches tall. I am not telling you my weight.
3. I have a small yellow dog.
4. I have a husband.
5. I have two parents (one of each gender) and a younger brother.
6. My brother is a computer a geek and has rescued me from many bad electronic situations.
7. Once I worked at a computer lab, and when people came with problems I couldn’t solve, I would call my brother for help.
8. My favorite color is purple.
9. I don’t mind cats, but they seem to be less fun than they ought to be.
10. My favorite foods are shrimp and broccoli.
11. I’m a US citizen, and before George Bush and John Ashcroft I was actively proud to be American. At present, I am mostly apologetic for being American.
12. I do not especially like Miami, but it’s not a bad place.
13. My parents have two small dogs, one of which they stole from me.
14. I am afraid of insects, especially roaches, but I do not like to admit it.
15. I love to swim. As a little kid, I was on a competitive swim team.
16. Wearing high heels makes my joints hurt.
17. Some of my friends know I have a web journal, and some don’t.
18. Places I have lived: Syracuse, NY; Boston, MA; Washington, DC; Iowa City, IA; Bloomington, IN; Tashkent, Uzbekistan; Cairo, Egypt. Oh, and Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. Where I am now.
19. I am very good at packing. Very, very good. I learned this from my father.
20. I can drive stick shift. I think I’m a pretty good driver in general, but don’t we all?
21. I cannot hold my liquor. Neither can my mom.
22. I didn’t take my husband’s name when I got married. It never occurred to either of us that I would. I thought woman didn’t do that any more, but based on people’s responses to the fact I kept my name, I must be wrong.
23. I was married in June 2002. The ceremony included balloons.
24. I once met Russiagirl. Russiagirl is also the reason I have pictures on this website. She bought my gold membership because of my extensive technical difficulties.
25. I have brown hair, brown eyes, and olive skin.
26. I have never had any kind of surgery, unless you count gum grafts.
27. I met my husband in Iowa City. He was studying Russian and I was studying Uzbek. He didn’t ask for my phone number but I gave it to him anyway.
28. I like chocolate.
29. I am extremely sentimental.
30. I have many pairs of black shoes and one pair of black doc marten boots which I love.
31. I am not allergic to anything I know of.
32. I like to end sentences with prepositions.
33. I am lactose intolerant.
34. This is a problem because I love whipped cream.
35. Also, I have PCOS.
36. Sometimes I feel like I have seen every airport in the world, but that is not in any way true.
37. My favorite airport is Amsterdam Schipol, although Frankfurt is also nice.
38. I don’t really like living in Turkmenistan, but I do like my job.
39. I am not coordinated enough to dance with another person without feeling like an idiot.
40. My husband is younger than I am, but no one ever realizes that.
41. Some places I have worked: diploma mill, human papillomavirus lab, office of international programs, state of Massachusetts human resources, for-profit language school, big international organization, international consulting firm, ice cream parlor, my old high school, the American university in Cairo, a coffeehouse that went out of business before it opened, my cousin’s store, institutional realty advisors, brokerage. I also walked dogs for Letitia Baldrige. (probably that dog in the picture on her website)
42. I am addicted to watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
43. My birthday is May 29. I like to receive cards and presents.
44. There is nothing I hate more than sitting down into a wet toilet seat.
45. I have a master’s degree.
46. I like my in-laws.
47. I am not afraid of heights. In fact, I enjoy high places, especially Ferris wheels.
48. I read far too much to have a favorite book.
49. I do not feel a mystical connection with dolphins.
50. Until the crappy movie came out, Daredevil was my favorite comic book character.
51. I collect cartoon-character juice glasses.
52. I own too many hand-woven carpets.
53. I hate sleeping on firm mattresses. I believe that mattresses should be squishy.
54. In high school, I had a Burmese python named Agatha. She died during my senior year.
