So I run, and it’s nice, and the sky is blue above me.

“There’s a guy works down the chip shop says he’s elvis / just like you said that you’d always be true / there’s a guy works down the chip ship says he’s elvis / but he’s a liar and I don’t know about you.”

"Anyone perfect must be lying, Anything easy has its cost

Anyone plain can be lovely, Anyone loved can be lost."

Some thoughts, in no particular order:

1. When I am in certain moods, I take deep breaths of air and hold it in my lungs, breathing slowly in the hope that the carbon dioxide will take with it my melancholy. It never works, but it feels like a type of meditation, and that’s no bad thing.

2. I’ve been running. It finally occurred to me that I wasn't avoiding exercise, just the gym, and I could go running instead, since the weather is wonderful. So I run, and it’s nice, and the sky is blue above me.

3. Not really all that blue. This city is very white. White marble buildings, about half of all the cars are white, the sky is a very pale shade of blue that fades to white at the horizon. The buildings that don’t start out white get bleached pale by the desert sun. I asked Lilya why all the cars are white. She said people like white here, that it symbolizes good things – purity and trust and justice. A good answer, but I suspect the actual answer is that whatever Soviet car factory supplied Turkmenistan only produced white cars, and most of the cars here are still Ladas and Moskvitches.

4. I made a job offer today to a new employee. I don’t know how I feel about this. We do need the help, but I like the office how it is now.

5. Why are there not more Casey at the bat jokes in Sports Night? Even the fan fiction doesn’t do as many as I feel would be called for in a sports fan named Casey.

6. Yes, I am still strangely obsessed with Sports Night.
